The Centre for Feminist Research/ Le centre de recherches féministes promotes feminist activities and collaborative research at York University and works to establish research linkages between York scholars and local, national, international and transnational communities. Feminist research is conceived of in broad terms, as being concerned with issues of women, gender, class, ‘race’, sexuality, ability and feminism.
Centre for Refugee Studies (CRS)
The Centre for Refugee Studies is engaged in research on refugee issues; it informs public discussion as well as policy development and practice innovation by international, governmental, advocacy and service organizations; and it supports teaching in refugee and migration studies.

The Jack and Mae Nathanson Centre on Transnational Human Rights, Crime and Security studies transnational phenomena and normative issues at the intersections of human rights, crime and security. One of the Nathanson Centre’s missions is to organize and sponsor events that tackle contemporary challenges in order to foster well-informed public debate.
York Centre for Asian Research (YCAR)
The York Centre for Asian Research (YCAR) is one of Canada’s largest and most active communities of scholars working on East, South and Southeast Asia as well as Asian migrants around the world. YCAR facilitates and supports research projects, knowledge exchange and graduate student training, as well as engagement with wider communities in the conduct or dissemination of research.
York Consortium on International and Security Studies (YCISS)
The York Consortium on International and Security Studies (YCISS) supports and promotes two event series, an interdisciplinary peer-reviewed journal, a graduate research award and a graduate diploma in international and security studies. All of these were originally administered by the York Centre for International and Security Studies which was dedicated to the production and promotion of critical knowledge on security within local, national, international and global contexts.
